Ghetto reef keeping! Empty
PostSubject: Ghetto reef keeping!   Ghetto reef keeping! Icon_minitimeSun Jun 21, 2009 10:29 pm

Hello all,
So this will be the first post I have done on the new forum. board.javascript:emoticonp('cheers')
I just received a Seaclone 100 skimmer (I think most of you know what I think about skimmers) and hooked it up(the Seaclone reinforces what I think about skimmers in every way). I wasn't happy with the foam, the lack of a surface skimmer and the large amount of micro bubbles.I went to the net to look at the mods that could be done with it.After a bit of searching and poring over reviews and such I'm going to do a needle wheel mod with a surface skimming box and micro bubble filter. All of the mods will be modded to fit my particular needs. With the work hopefully I may change my mind about skimmers.I will let you all know about how it works out.
Anyway I ran across a page on Reef Central that made me think, Why aren't more people making or refining more of there equipment? As you'll see it doesn't take much money or time. With a little cash, time, and some research you can end up with a product that is much better than what you can buy at the store. Then you will have the joy and pride (in some cases shame and embarrassment)to show it off to your family and friends and they will be amazed (horrified) at you intelligence (or lack there of). With a newly boosted ego and knowledge from your search you'll be a Be a stronger Aquariut.
Eric
P.S. Here it the link that started my rambling.
