| Florescents should be fine for most hard corals as long as you have 8-10 watts per gallon and the tank isn't any deeper than 18 inches. I would go for it. | |

I've got a custom fixture that holds 2 48" 55w florescents and 2 175w metal halides. I keep the 48" slots filled with my actinics, and I have 20,000k's in the metal halides. It's a bit overkill for a fish only but it gives off beautiful lighting. No corals at all. Sooner or later I may add some hardy stuff like Kenya trees or xenia, maybe some sponge for a snack for the fish. Not sure what my dogface Would or wouldn't eat, he's a pig. | |

| That is a lot of lighting for a fish only. Thats cool because you can always have the option of switching to a reef if you wanted. Ya Kenya trees are pretty cool, I have some that just fragged themselves but I gave it to my. P.S. I don't have school till 11:20!!!! | |

| Hey everyone I bought the lights for my tank if you didn't know. I also upgraded my tanks filter to an aquaclear 70 (Sorry Brandon). I made a really cool intake/surface skimmer out of pvc for it too. The aquaclear I received from Brandon is now in the possession of my brother. He really likes it and the LED's work out great for growing cheato I think. Right now his tank is pretty stocked for a 3 gallon. He has 3 hermits, and a six line wrasse. The six line wrasse is way cool by the way. I will post pics soon... | |

| I know the six line wrasse seems to big for the 3 gallon but he seems to be doing fine and my brother does daily water changes and I am always checking in on him, which he doesn't like but who cares. Anyway we will see how the little fish does, he is really cool by the way. He ate 20 minutes outa the petco bag and ate tonight too. He seems to be doing fine. I have heard they are a tough fish | |
