| HELLO EVERYBODY My name is Nathan Gaub and I just moved here from the East coast (DC & FL) I was one of the leaders of a very large Reef club in the DC area. We went from 50 members to over a 1000 in the 7 years I lived there ( our web site) I have published in aquaria science, and been on the board of major aquariums. but I am glad to be here. I am from yakima and after 20 years I have moved back. I am adding on to the house I bought to have a room for a large tank. I intend to have a 350 + gal system with a 750 gal filter system and grow out tanks,, (below is a pic of my last tank,, 550 gal system) Somebody tell me what I need to do to join you all. | |

| Aquariareview Btw. I dont know if you have looked around town yet but as you may already know there is no place in town to get anything equipment wise or coral wise for that matter. We have the petco that sells zenia and $43 ich ridden yellow tangs. Yakima tropical fish (great people) but they only get fish like 2 times a year and for instance i called the other day and they had never herd of a alk test kit! Hopefully that will change but for now...you know. You really should join Reeffrontiers.com It is a collection of people that are in the northwest. good people and great for finding coral, equipment and such.
Not to say you shouldnt jump on here of course but just to warn you, you cant say things like "i think you should set up a sump for a protien skimmer" or apistapog will wanna beat you up. Or try and say anything jokingly because he will want to beat you up for that as well.
all three of us active members are also members of reeffrontiers it is pretty much a nw thing.
And welcome to Yakima again!
If you ever need any help with your new project i would love to help.

| I am a long time reefer and here is the new project. Look at the tank above that pic is shot under 6 X 400 watt xm bulbs 20,000k mixed with led system.
A 350 gal tank (mixed sps) and 2 90 gal tanks of softies and zo's all will be in a den that is 2nd floor (thats the main floor of the house) concrete supports are under the big tank and steel beams under the others.
Below in a filter room will be two 700 gal stock tanks for sumps, one with live rock, one with marsh mud. both will be full of critters.
A 6 ft tall skimmer, ro filter with a 500 gal ro tank. calc reactor, auto top off system, and various injectors controlled by a system of probes.
Also there will be about 150 gal of grow out tanks. 10 in deep six ft long.
The addition this all go's in goes up summer 2010 and system go in fall 2010.
as too the issue of local stores, I can get all of my live rock and sand from walt smith in fiji. Dr Mac coral is overnight shipping. hardware is all online or easy to build.
All of the major Aquaculture people are friends. so livestock will be easy.
I will need some help on setup so stay in touch.

| I intend to order a big pile of coral mid summer, it will all go in grow out system so I can control growth onto rocks that will go in system later. all my soft coral will come from friends in the DC area. I have a friend in VA who has every known color of Zo. Another friend grows every known xenia morph and 200 types of mushroom. when I order stuff I always grow it out before I put some into my display tanks. that way I can trade with others from my grow out without messing with my main tank. | |

| Huh, well I am glad you have had good luck with them. I have heard from numerous people who have been shipped poorly made tanks, then again they were nanos. | |
